Lane 4 · Grand Prairie, TX

Every car crosses
under the light

Green, amber or red is announced before the hammer, not argued after it. It is not a quality score — it is a statement about what you can dispute.

On the block now

Green light — nothing announced.

We inspected it and found nothing that changes what you are buying. That is a claim we have to stand behind, so a green-light lot is arbitrable if it turns out to have been materially misdescribed.

RUN 02

The mechanism

Four lights, and only one of them is about condition

Green

Nothing announced. Arbitrable on material misdescription. The most exposed position for the house, which is why it is not handed out to cars we could not inspect properly.

Amber

Specific things announced, and those specific things are what you can come back on — plus anything our standard says should have been announced and was not.

Red

As-is. Nothing is arbitrable, including things nobody wrote down. Cheap for a reason.

Blue

Paperwork, not condition. The title is not in the room, so funds are held and the vehicle does not move until it is recorded. It runs alongside the other three.

Where the light comes from

An inspector who did not consign the vehicle and does not sell it writes the condition report. Anything in it that changes what a buyer is buying becomes an announcement, and the announcements set the light.

That order matters. The light is an output of the inspection, not a label chosen beforehand and then justified.

The condition report

The grade is a summary. The diagram is the report.

Forty to ninety minutes on a lift, in the same order, on every vehicle in the sale — whether it is worth four thousand dollars or a hundred and forty.

  • 1Intake, before anything is cleanedPhotographed on arrival. Odometer read and photographed in the same pass.
  • 2Paint depth, panel by panelEvery reading outside the expected band recorded, not summarised.
  • 3What the inspector could not seeUnderseal, fresh paint, a car that would not start. Named as a limitation rather than graded around.

Money

Work backwards from what you can spend

Your budget is the hammer price plus the premium plus the fees plus getting the thing home. Here is the arithmetic, live.

$20,000 – $50,000$500
$50,000 – $100,000$1,000
$100,000 and above$2,500

The auctioneer may take a smaller increment to close a lot. Never a larger one.

Reserve, no reserve, proxy

Reserve
A floor the consignor set. Below it, the lot does not sell and is published as a no-sale with its high bid.
No reserve
It sells on the day to the highest bid, whatever that bid is. Nothing beneath it.
Proxy bid
You give a maximum. The system bids in the published increments and stops the moment it is winning, so you often pay less. Your maximum is never shown to the room.

Gate slip · what this site stores

Crossblock is a design demonstration. It sets no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies, because there are none to set. If you accept, four preferences are kept in this browser's localStorage: your theme, your paint chip, your cabin controls and the fact that you answered this. Decline and nothing is written — the site still works, it just forgets your choices when you leave.
